BEST and The Five Ways to Wellbeing
At BEST we believe in the importance of 'The 5 Ways to Wellbeing’ model.
We have integrated this model into our service and our staff use it as a structure to their work with children and young people.
CONNECT
BEST – Be a Better You is about connection. We connect to our young people, each other and the community. We aim to support our young people to do the same and improve their relationships with others
BE ACTIVE
This is the core of what we do at BEST, supporting the young person engage in physical activity. Physical activity is associated with lower depression and anxiety rates, emotional resilience and a healthier lifestyle
TAKE NOTICE
BEST believe in reminding our young people to ‘take notice’ of the world around them, to ‘savour the moment’ and enjoy their environment
LEARN
At BEST we encourage young people to ‘learn how to learn’. Learning a new skill, such as boxing, increases self-esteem, cognitive abilities, discipline and goal setting
GIVE
BEST give back to the community and we encourage our young people to participate in their own communities - because promoting happiness makes you happy!
